On October 20, 2021, the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF) changed its name to the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation (BHOF).
BHOF (formerly NOF) and the American Society for Preventive Cardiology (ASPC) released a joint position statement on the lack of evidence linking calcium with or without vitamin D supplementation to cardiovascular disease in generally healthy adults. Established in 1984, the Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation (formerly the National Osteoporosis Foundation) is committed to educating the public and health professionals about osteoporosis and its prevention.
The Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation’s Board and Executive Committee is the governing authority of the organization, ensuring its stability and viability to fulfill its mission. Board members are elected for renewable three year terms and meet three times a year.
