Washington, DC (June 13, 2017) – The National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF), today issued the following statement in response to the Senate HELP hearing “The Cost of Prescription Drugs: How the Drug Delivery System Affects What Patients Pay”

“During today’s hearing, several Senators raised the idea of allowing for the government to set prices in the Medicare Part D Program.  Despite opposition from hundreds of patient and health advocates, legislators continue to promote ideas that will potentially compromise access to prescription medications for the millions of Americans who rely on the Medicare program,” said Amy Porter, executive director and CEO of the National Osteoporosis Foundation. “Government interference in the Part D program will likely lead to decreased access to medications for seniors and individuals with disabilities. On behalf of these patients, we continue to urge Congress to oppose any changes to Medicare Part D that limit patient access to lifesaving medications.”
